We invited the media to our collaboration with FEL ČVUT in the form of a motorist experiment. Three TV crews arrived, along with other key journalists.
Scientists from the Department of Control Engineering of FEL ČVUT analyze different options of directing traffic colons and the question of how cars with adaptive cruise control factor into the equation. This topic, heavy with math formulas and processes, needed to be presented to the general public. Doing so successfully also catches the eye of new partners and potential future students.
Side by side with the scientists, we created a concept of a public experiment in order to bring in new data and to be attractive to media. We invited owners of cars with adaptive cruise control to an empty airport runway located in Mnichovo Hradiště, thus creating an artificial colon. After doing so, the results were presented by the department representatives.
Despite the event not happening in Prague, a few journalists have joined the experimental colon, with some others at least accepting an invitation to ride in the passenger seat or take a video of the experiment via a drone. It was fun, and the topic rocked through Czech media. Among the 35 total outputs were, for example: Události ČT 1, multiple live entries on ČRo Radiožurnál, or articles in Novinky.cz, iDnes.cz and Aktualne.cz.
